Barraquer ophthalmological center announced this Wednesday the launch of a new application for smart phones that allows conducting eight ophthalmological exams using the mobile phone as the institution announced in a statement
It is already possible to download “Visual Test” for Android system and shortly it will be available for Apple, and it is “one of the most complete exams¨ that can be done with with the mobile phone.
Barraquer emphasized in any case that testing is only of illustrative nature and ¨it is not the same as the medical examination and in no way it pretends to replace an ophthalmological consult¨.
The application includes an exam for myopia, another one for astigmatism, one for visual field to detect mainly the glaucoma and the so called ¨Amsler grid¨ for macular degeneration related to the age.
It also contains the color test for color blindness, an exam to check three dimensional vision, a questionary with different visual situations and others to detect possible eye disfunctions, as the statement explains.
